Canticum Megapterae is my interdisciplinary project that blends music, art, science and education to raise awareness about the cultural lives of whales, who are far more like us than we often realize.
Canticum Megapterae – Song of the Humpback Whale (2019) was an award-winning electronic music album created in collaboration with artists from around the globe. It was followed by Canticum Megapterae II – The Evolution (2022), which dived deeper into the mysteries of whale song culture.
Both albums received international acclaim, featured in The New Yorker, BBC Radio, and other major outlets. The music has been archived by the British Library and played worldwide.
I also organised a couple of events for Canticum Megapterae album launches at ARTScience MedILS (Mediterranean Institute for Life Sciences), where I worked as a coordinator of art-science projects and events.
Canticum Megapterae III – The Revolution
Now, I’m ready to complete the trilogy with the most ambitious project yet, for which I embarked on an expedition to Tonga where I recorded new, high-quality whale songs. I will now dedicate myself to crafting a truly beautiful album from these recordings and sharing it with the world. This album will not only deepen the story of whale song culture, but also serve as a rallying cry for marine conservation and interspecies connection.
